Eleven pathogenic serotypes of Leptospirae were detected and reported from Lusaka abattoirs. The incidence of leptospirosis was 16.31% in cattle and 7.82% in pigs from abattoir materials. The role of pigs in transmission of the infection to cattle as noted in two leptospirosis outbreaks causing endometritis and abortions on a dairy farm, as well as the role of water pools in dambo area are discussed.
