Frequency analysis using
frequency factors in the Luangwa River basin, by K.H.M. Mhango,
Zambia Journal of Science & Technology, Vol.2, no.4, October 1997, Pg. 17-25.
The paper describes frequency analysis using the frequency factor for the
Luangwa basin. It demonstrates that both the rainfall and discharge have a
normal probability distribution function. Significance tests by the Chi-square
method indicate that these empirically derived functions are valid at the 0.05
level of significance. The paper also shows that the return periods of rainfall
and discharge have a linearly correlative trend. This correlative trend
indicates that a rainfall of given return of a given return period yields
discharges of higher return periods.
