Diphenyl thiovioluric acid: a new extractive
indicator for copper and aluminium, by H.C. Mehra, Zambia Journal of
Science & Technology, Vol.3, no.4, October 1978, Pg. 68-73.
Copper and Aluminium have been determined complexometrically against EDTA-2
solution employing diphenyl thiovioluric acid as an extractive indicator. One to
two drops of the indicator in chloroform (0.02M) are enough for a sharp end
point. The colour changes from yellow to brownish-red. The determination of
copper was made directly against EDTA-2 in the pH range 4.0 to 6.0. In case of
aluminium indirect titration was carried out at the pH range 3.5 to 4.5.
