Photoelectron spectroscopy and sputtering: a new surface analysis technique, by G. Lewis, Zambia Journal of Science & Technology, Vol.2, no.2, April 1977, Pg. 6-15.

The relatively new technique of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy has been used, with sputtering as an technique, to elucidate some aspects of the surface films formed on anodized aluminium, a braze alloy/stainless steel joint in tap water and copper in aqueous solution of benzotriazole. An outline of the principle of the techniques is given and results in these systems are discussed to show that this new tool provides new and useful information.
