Under both Acts of Parliament
which created the Council and the Institute’s Management Board, one of the main
functions of the Institute is to collect, store and disseminate Scientific and
Technical Information (STI) and to actively carry out documentation activities
in relevant areas of science and technology (S&T). The Information Services Unit
(ISU) was established to execute this function.
The ISU comprises the Documentation Section; Editorial Office; and the
Library with branches at Head Office, Kitwe and Chilanga.
The Unit is currently undertaking the following projects:
- Research Communication and Information Network (RESCINET)
- ICT-based Training Centre
- National Biosafety Clearing House Mechanism
