Cyclic changes in the ampulla epithelium of the oviduct during pregnancy in impala Aepyceros melampus (Lichtenstein 1812), by J. Epelu-Opio, Zambia Journal of Science & Technology, Vol.3, no.1, January 1978, Pg. 5-16

The epithelium showed striking cyclic changes. Ciliated and non-ciliated cells were the typical epithelial cells. Lymphoid cells were also seen in the epithelium. The Golgi complex and endoplasmic reticulum appeared to be less active. The agranular endoplasmic reticulum seemed to be more conspicuous during late pregnancy. Secretory granules exhibited to gradual reduction in size and in number, the least size being attained in the final stages of gestation. The mucus or mucopolysaccharide granules were scarce. Absence of glycogen in the epithelial cells and increased appearance of lipid during gestation were recognised.
