Pozzolanic reactivity of some Zambian clays, by N.S. Bawa and G.V. Chimwala, Zambia Journal of Science and Technology, Vol.2, no.1, January 1977, Pg. 2-9.

Pozzolanic reactivity of clays from Neganega and Kalulushi clay deposits, already being used for the manufacture of building bricks, was investigated. Optimum temperature of burning these clays for maximum pozzolanic reactivity was found to be in the region of 800
°C. Higher temperature of burning reduced the reactivity of the clays. Tests on random samples of burnt clay bricks showed that the pulverized broken bricks from the brick factories could also be used in the preparation of pozzolanic materials.
